BROOKLYN PSYCHIATRIC CENTERS HOLDS WALKATHON

BROOKLYN, NY, September 20, 2000—The staff of Brooklyn Psychiatric Centers, Inc. (BPC) joined forces September 14 for a walkathon across the Brooklyn Bridge and back to renew its commitment to the agency’s mission.

Wearing t-shirts with “Building Bridges for New York Families” printed on the front, the staff members who work in BPC’s offices throughout Brooklyn participated in the walkathon.

The walkathon also served as a fund-raiser for the agency and the staff solicited sponsors for the event.  The money raised will be used to pay for supplies and staff training for the agency’s programs, which include five outpatient mental health clinics; 12 on-site school programs; mobile therapeutic services for children at risk for out of home placement and their families; outpatient services for adolescents and adults with mental health problems and chemical addictions and their families; services for seniors, and programs for clients supervised by the U.S. Probation Services Offices.

The day began with a kickoff breakfast and ended with post-walkathon activities including lunch, games, and stress reduction and relaxation techniques.

Brooklyn Psychiatric Centers, Inc., founded in 1907, is a non-profit mental health agency that provides quality services annually to more than 1,300 children, adults, seniors, and their families in Brooklyn.
